Revelations regarding Dora:

Okay, so no crazy stalkers left me any messages. That means I'm either too boring to stalk or it means they have better things to do. Either way I suppose it's for the best. And speaking of best, did you know one of the best things about staying at home is also one of the worst things? I'm talking about the lazy days when you and your children have nothing to do but watch DVD's. I don't sit and watch much T.V. to begin with, especially since we have no cable. I have a few favorite shows like The Office, Grey's Anatomy and The Biggest Loser but other than that I no longer have access to Food Network or TLC so I fill my time with internet delights and mopping. Yes, I am obsessive about my floors...but anyway I was talking about T.V.

My little ones are quite fond of PBS which offers more educational shows. To get their other cartoon fix, my mom has purchased an enormous amount of DVD's and unfortunately this includes three Dora videos. My kids love Dora. Meanwhile her voice makes me want to throw things. Not only does the show's characters bug me, but hello... Dora is a preschooler running around the jungle without any adult supervision and she is hanging out with monkeys and baby jaguars. She also has many questionable items in her backpack if you ask me. By now she probably has rabies or something else communicable... You have to ask yourself: would you let your kids hang out with Dora?

I didn't think so.

Meanwhile I try to focus on the fact that I am lucky enough to be able to spend this time at home with my kids. Although I work part-time, I am at home with my kids a majority of the time.

I would willingly suffer through a few hours of Dora just to be able to have these moments. Oh and, it could be worse. They could be obsessed with Barney.
