Sticks that light up...

Seriously I cannot see why anyone would spend their hard earned cash on fireworks but that's just my opinion. As a child I was captivated by sparklers and the smokey flashes of light in front of my face but as an adult, I just don't get it. For as many years as my first born has been on this Earth, I have not spent a dime on fireworks. That is until this year.

I didn't want him complaining about how boring we were so I caved this year. We bought two packs of sparklers and some other thingamajig. Pow! 17 dollars later, we headed back to the in-law's. We were pug sitting again.

I do enjoy the big fireworks (from a distance) and at a decent hour. I remember a trip to Pismo when I was 18 with a group of girlfriends and we had a blast hanging out on the beach while the fireworks lit up the ocean. It was beautiful. I also remember evenings on Bass Lake while boats paraded across the water and the reflection of light felt almost like you were staring into space. And last night at the Death Cab for Cutie show, they ended their set with amazing fireworks. I appreciate a good light show, I just don't like having any and everybody getting their hands on things that light up, especially in this town. Not to mention, we have such poor air quality that I wouldn't be against a ban. Just sayin'.

I did find that sparklers can make for some fun photos. So I snapped a few.
Enjoy!

Great pictures!

I've been putting off the fireworks at our house, but will probably have to get some next year. L (along with hubby) was whining about not getting to see any this year. Boys & their toys lol

Fireworks are actually illegal here, and people who want them have to drive out of state. But we did the sparkler thing this year, too ;)

Love the sparkler shots !

Thanks you two...

I hope next year we can go to the local college and see the big ones. That way I won't have to clean anything up or feel like I wasted money on sparklers!

i wish we could have sparklers at least here, because they're fun. all personal fire works are illegal in San Luis Obispo, Avila Beach (for the first time since I've lived here) and Pismo Beach. Ironically tho, you can go right on over into Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande and Oceano and buy them anyway. Our county makes no sense. lol
